Live-in Caregiver Position
What is the job?
We are seeking a mature, reliable, organized female to provide live-in care for a young woman with developmental disabilities. This “Home Provider” will be required to move into Laura's home to provide oversight and to assist her with her personal care needs. The Home Provider will also accompany Laura on community outings and complete general home management tasks such as meal preparation, shopping, and light house cleaning. Eventually, with Laura's input, she will plan and coordinate her day program as well as hire, train, schedule, and supervise Laura's day program staff.
Who is Laura?
Laura is a 40 year-old woman with developmental disabilities. Although non-speaking, she makes her thoughts known by independently answering yes/no questions. She currently lives in her family home in Durham, but plans to move into her own home in Chapel Hill near UNC campus and University Mall when renovations are completed. Laura participates in many community activities in the Triangle: theater, dining, concerts, and movies. In addition to travel, she loves nature walks, non-fiction books by unconventional women, poetry, music, and auditing classes.

What is the primary goal?
The primary goal for the Home Provider is to provide a safe, secure and supportive home life for Laura. She will assist and facilitate Laura's engagement in her chosen pursuits so that she is supported in living a vibrant and meaningful life, rich with opportunities.

Who should apply?
Female or couple, of whom at least one is female who is roughly within 10 years of Laura's age and has: A minimum of some college level education, relevant life experience, the ability to commit to a minimum of 3 years, no cats due to Laura's allergies, and a desire to travel.
